Sacred “Dev-Bhoomi”

Himachal, which means Snow Laden, is a beautiful North Indian state nestled in the mighty laps of Himalayas. It is the land of Gods and Goddesses; aptly known as “Dev Bhoomi”. People here are very humble and lead a very simple life. Trekking in Himachal presents with ample opportunities to explore the untrodden paths and experience such folkore.

Buran-Barua Pass offers best of all things in one single trek. Invading the territory of Dayara Bugyal is like strolling into a magical fairyland. Yes!! A real one!

The lure starts from the remotest village Janglik, the last motor-able village about 150 Kms from Shimla. It comprises of the dense forest of Oak & Pine trees, meadows, flowers, herbs, apples, apricots, pears, peaches, streams and snow slides. However, the main attraction is a detour climb of another peak worth an experience of this holy wonder; called Chandranahan lake. A group of 7 glacial lakes at 14000 ft forms source of the Pabbar river.

The lake is enveloped in mysterious stories that tell the tale of its importance in the surroundings. Inhabitants here believe that Lord Shiva took a dip in this lake & rested his crescent shaped moon(Chandra) on the ground, that’s where ’Chandranahan’ name derived. Legends also believe in the existence of supernatural powers in this holy land.
