Kolthare Beach

Kolthare Beach is an untouched and charming beach situated in the quaint village of Kolthare, about 20 km away from the town of Dapoli in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district.

This hidden gem is not known to many tourists and is only popular with people living in Kolthare or its vicinity. It is best to ask a local person to guide you towards Kolthare as it is located deep within the Western Ghats jungle. The drive to Kolthare Beach is an adventurous one, but worth it once you reach the magical destination. It’s the perfect place to experience the calmness of being in the lap of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Stay near the beach in a lovely homestay and have easy access to this stunning beach all through the day. Wake up at the break of dawn to watch dolphins jumping across the sea and photograph a magnificent sunset in the evening. Take a barefooted walk along the beach’s silvery grey sands or dip your feet in the soothing blue water with your loved ones for company. Indulge in an energetic game of volleyball or cricket with your buddies or simply relax under a coconut tree to read a book.

While driving towards Kolthare village, make sure to halt when you reach the location of the glorious 42-feet high statue of Lord Parshuram, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. The statue of Lord Parshuram standing atop the globe is simply amazing and there is a meditation hall inside the structure, where one can sit and meditate. The sea-view from here is also breathtaking and worth photographing.

Do visit the Koleshwar Temple during your stay in Kolthare. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Kolehwar Temple is visited my countless pilgrims every year, especially during the auspicious festival of Maha Shivratri.
