The Vasota Fort Trek is renowned for being one of the best jungle treks in Maharashtra and attracts wildlife lovers and adventure enthusiasts from all over India. Since Vasota Fort is situated near the beautiful Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary, it is surrounded by dense forests, rivers and scenic backwaters. The region is also rich in a diverse variety of flora and fauna.
Vasota Fort is located in Satara District, about 263 km away from Pune. You can take a MSRTC bus from Pune to reach Satara. From Satara, you can take a bus to Bamnoli village. Once you reach Bamnoli, the base village, you need to take a ferry to reach the foothills of Vasota Fort. Climbing up the Vasota Fort is quite tough and tiring. It takes about 3 hours to reach the top of the fort. During the trek there are chances of encountering a number of birds and wild animals such as leopards, bears, hares, etc. Tread with caution if you spot a bigger wild animal like a leopard or a bear.
