Ardent trekkers, you’d love trekking to Garbett Point in Matheran. Look out for stunning waterfalls, mesmerizing lake views, and camping opportunities. Also, enjoy sightseeing other local tourist hotspots.

Ardent Trekking lovers this one’s for you! Garbett Point located near Matheran offers a 360-degree magnificent view of the plateau below. The hiking trail is home to splendid waterfalls and a fabulous lake – and trekkers will love trekking here.

Matheran has earned itself a spot as one of the most favorite hill-stations around Pune, as it is blessed with lush greenery, mesmerizing waterfalls, and plenty of things to do and see. And Garbett Plateau, which is located in the south-west direction of Matheran, offers a wonderful trekking arena. This hotspot also offers some awe-inspiring views, which makes trekkers want to come back.

Avid trekkers would rate Garbett Point as a moderate level trek in terms of difficulty, which takes around 4-5 hours to complete the entire trek. The trail includes passing by Diksal village, taking a dirt road crossing Tatoba temple, and the Dhom Dam (aka Bhivpuri Lake). The lake view in the backdrop of the huge mountains and cloud cover is truly amazing. Also, look out for roaring waterfalls (Bhivpuri Waterfall) enroute, and head to a small village named Sagachiwadi. The green paddy fields are welcoming and you’d love to spend some moments reveling in the beauty of nature. Finally, reaching the Garbett Plateau, get ready to be treated with a picture-perfect landscape.

For campers, pitching a tent would be an option to consider. However, the winds can get quite strong and one would need to carry camping tools and equipment in accordance. And, for trekkers, especially during monsoon it is advised to don shoes with good grips, and carry lunch, medicines, and bottled water.

It is best to travel here during monsoon (July-August), when the entire valley comes alive. There are no food options along the trek route, so it is best to pack food (snacks) and carry bottled water. There are a few eateries (dhabas) that serve local Maharashtrian food at the starting point of the trek; however, till you finish the trek you’d be quite on your own resources, so pack accordingly. As you finish the trek, and on your way back, you can stop for a hearty lunch at Dasturi Naka. As you enjoy your meal, it’s a perfect time to recall your fond trekking moments!

There are plenty of other tourist hotspots around, so for travelers who wish to explore more could visit Louisa Point, Charlotte Lake, Echo Point, and more. Have a fun-time with your friends and recharge with your trekking stint!
