Revel in the historic site - Revdanda Fort, and soak up the history of the fort, admire the architecture, and also spend time visiting other local tourist hotspots.

Reveling in historic monuments can be insightful and inspiring. Spend some time at Revdanda Fort on the way to Alibaug from Kashid and reminisce the beauty of the past. Located at the mouth of Kundalika River, the fort is quite accessible by road.

The fort was built by Portuguese Capt. Soj and is said to be completed in 1524. The fort was strategically built by the sea to watch over their trading interests. Once called as Santa Maria de Castelo (in Portuguese), the locals renamed the fort as Revdanda after Revati, the spouse of the Yadava king, Balrama.

Today though the fort dons a dilapidated look, it still has a charm that attracts quite a few tourists. Fort lovers or photographers who wish to shoot weddings and pre-weddings find the destination gorgeous. And, that’s what you can enjoy as you reach the fort – the backdrop of palm and betel nut trees make the fort more attractive.

What remains today of the fort is a seven-story tower and the fortification walls. And you will enjoy taking out time to revel at the stunning visuals, architecture, and connect the glimpses of history through the remains. You can look out for the underground tunnels that were made from brick and mortar and the ancient architecture.

The Revdanda Beach is quite close to the fort. And the sand dons a black color, which brings an exclusive look. Revdanda village offers comfortable accommodation options. Apart from which, there are quite a few restaurants to sample the local cuisine.

For travelers who wish to explore the place can visit Revdanda beach, Datta mandir, Shitala Devi mandir, Alibaug Beach, Nagaon Beach, and more.

Capture wonderful memories as you visit the fort and enjoy the view of the palm-fringed ramparts!
