Pack your bags for Alibaug this summer! This year onwards, the beautiful beach town will be just 90 minutes away thanks to Mumbai’s soon-to-be-launched Ro-Ro Ferry service!
The Mumbai to Alibaug Ro-Ro Ferry service is ready to set sail from May 2019. This will be Mumbai’s first Ro-Ro or Roll On, Roll Off ferry service. The ferry will operate from a newly built terminal at the Ferry Wharf in Mazgaon to Mandwa in Alibaug. The ferry service will cut down your travelling time by at least 2 to 3 hours and will allow you to reach Alibaug within 90 minutes instead of the usual 4 hours by road.
The Ro-Ro Ferry will not only ferry passengers but also cars and buses. Each ferry will be able to transport around 18 buses, 180 cars and 200 passengers. Though no official statement is out, the cost of the journey is believed to be at just Rs.200 per passenger, Rs 300 per car and Rs 700 per bus! The Ro-Ro Ferry is not only a convenient and cheaper travel option but also eco-friendly. And the best part is that it will continue to operate in monsoon season!
