Grapes are one of the most impressive and versatile fruits homegrown in Maharashtra! And now tourists will be able to enjoy a special tour of farm-fresh grapes at the Junnar Grape Festival 2019. Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and the farmers of Junnar Tehsil have joined hands to bring you the newly launched grape festival, which will be held at MTDC Resort Malshej Ghat between February 16 and February 19.
The four-day-long festival aims to promote Junnar as an emerging wine tourism destination in Maharashtra with quality grapes that are on par with those grown in Nashik. This initiative will highlight Indian grapes, raisins, and agricultural and industrial production of wine in rural Maharashtra. Tourists will get an opportunity to learn more about grape farming and wine-making from the farmers of Junnar.
To participate in the festival, tourists will have to reach the MTDC Resort at Malshej Ghat at 10 am on their preferred day between 16th and 19th February. On reaching the venue, they will visit the vineyards at Golegaon to get in-depth information about the history of grapes and their nutritive value, grape farming, production, exporting and packaging. Tourists can also purchase freshly-plucked grapes directly from the farm.
Participants will also visit a wine-making unit and can look forward to tasting and purchasing wine. Tourists will also visit Amantran Agritourism, and a mushroom production unit run by tribal self-help groups. Lunch (Veg and Non-Veg) is available at Amantran Agritourism at additional costs. The entry fee per person in Rs.50, and remaining farm visits are also priced at Rs.50 each. The vehicles for the tour have been arranged by MTDC.
