‘K2S’ – Katraj to Sinhagad Trek

The ‘Katraj to Sinhagad Trek’, popularly known as ‘K2S’ Trek is a favourite trek of novice as well as professional trekkers. The exciting trek begins at the Old Katraj Tunnel, which is situated south of Pune. The tunnel is accessible by buses departing from the Swargate Bus-Depot. From here, the trail passes through a series of about 15 winding hills and mountains. The trek route extends up to 18 km with its final destination being the top of the Sinhagad Fort.

It takes anywhere between 6 to 10 hours for full-fledged trekkers to complete this trek. The trek is not technically difficult but requires a high level of endurance, stamina and perseverance. The trek tests your physical stamina and it takes time to adapt to the constant ascent and descent.

The ‘K2S’ Trek has also gained popularity as a night trek. There are many trekkers’ groups that arrange ‘K2S’ night treks, especially on full-moon nights.
