Napane Waterfall

Napane Waterfall is located in Sindhudurg District in Maharashtra. It is situated at a distance of 315 km from Pune and a drive of about five and half hours.

Konkan is very famous for its seasonal monsoon waterfalls. During monsoon you can see many waterfalls cascading down along the Sahyadris. But all these waterfalls vanish after the monsoon is over. Napane waterfall on the Gothane river is the only exception. It falls all through the year. It is the only perennial waterfall in the district.

Napane fall has its origin at Nadhavde, 5kms upstream.  . After a journey of some 4-5kms, the river comes cascading down resulting in a splendid waterfall. The falls are surrounded by lush green forests with scenic beauty. Nature lovers  can have a chance to study variety of flora and fauna here. Many species of birds can also be seen and heard here.  At Navadhe village, a water spring has sprouted suddenly at one place. Locals call it ‘umala’.

The best time to visit is in the months of September to early February. Napane is a suitable destination for a summer holiday.

There are many other small falls, which according to medicinal experts is believed to be a sort of medical remedy for skin diseases.  This fall is believed to be a holy spiritual sight, as the famous Saint Gagangiri Maharaj had formerly observed penance at the foot of the fall. This fall also offers opportunity for studious observers. Many school and college students on excursions visit this fall. It is a thrilling experience for the swimmers.

The State Govt. has proposed here Boating-project, a hanging bridge and Children’s Park etc.  At present, there is facility of snacks and dinner as well as lodging. Napane has very few residential facilities offering only basic facilities. A one-day excursion is more advisable. Kankavli (40kms) or Talere offer  good quality comfortable accommodation is available.
